Success as a therapist is not achieved in doing something for your client, but rather in being someone for your client.
Theresa is a Registered Social Worker with a history of working with children, families and couples in the community dealing with general and complex trauma, substance abuse, suicidal ideation and the impact of living with mental health. Theresa has facilitated groups for women and children exposed to domestic violence along with men and women who struggle to regulate emotions such as anger and sadness. Theresa’s style works to collaborate and build strong relationships with her clients while creating a safe space for individuals to share their stories. This allows the individual to explore the impact of their experiences, find emotional clarity and move toward the future they desire. “I have a passion for working with individuals who have experienced trauma. Traumatic experiences in our lives whether from our relationships or environmental situations can inform our emotional responses and life choices. The trauma lens assists in processing our experiences that have impacted our confidence, coping skills, our ability to feel safe and make sound decisions. The therapeutic relationship can explore and process life’s challenging emotions of anxiety, sadness and anger while building self-compassion, insight and resiliency”
