Layla has partnered with Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW) to offer funded mental health support solutions to owners and employees of small and medium sized businesses hard hit by the pandemic.

What is this funding?

The funding covers tailored options for mental health support for eligible individuals including individual (up to 8 sessions) and group therapy options best suited to your needs. Your Layla Care Coordinator will help you identify the right solutions for you and guide you on your mental health journey. All your information shared is strictly confidential and will not be shared with your employer.

This funding program has a defined budget. Client enrollment for funding will be open until the program budget is fully used.

Impreet RaiImpreet Rai
Care Coordinator

Impreet completed her education at York University with a Bachelor of Social Work degree with honours and has over 5 years of experience working as a Trauma Counsellor with women and children fleeing immediate violence. Impreet is passionate about working from a trauma informed and client centered approach. In her personal time, Impreet enjoys spending time with family and friends, meditating, and reading!

Cecilia ManuCecilia Manu
Care Coordinator

Cecilia has over 10 years of providing customer service to many community and mental health organizations. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at the University of Western Ontario and pursued further studies in the field of Applied Behavioural Analysis. She found out she had an affinity towards mental health and while volunteering at the Humber River Regional Hospital as a Mental Health Assistant. This led to some of her extensive experience with mental health which includes support to individuals with substance abuse disorders and volunteering as a support worker for Crisis Helplines.Some of Cecilia's hobbies include taking long walks, watching horror movies, and spending time with family.

Amira Cheikh Amira Cheikh
Care Coordinator

Amira completed her Social Work education at MacEwan University. She has worked in various roles in her social work career, such as with Edmonton Public Schools, where she worked with students and staff to promote mental health and inclusivity. As well as the City of Edmonton, where she helped citizens with daily issues and facilitated presentations about inclusivity. She has also worked in the medical field, reception, and customer service. Amira found her passion for mental health and social work after years of volunteer work and speaking with people in the profession. Amira enjoys spending time with family and friends in her free time, travelling, and hijab styling.

Sarah ParsonsSarah Parsons
Care Coordinator

After starting a career in health insurance and group benefits, she developed an interest in mental health in a social context. She returned to school as a mature student and obtained a Bachelor of Arts with honours in Sociology and Child/Youth Studies. Sarah has dedicated herself to her education and worked on an extensive research project to develop community-based resources for LGBTQ+ youth during the COVID-19 pandemic. Throughout her degree, she has worked in youth homeless shelters, senior support services, and disability advocacy. She continues to support students with disabilities through peer mentorship and advocacy groups at Brock University. Outside of work, Sarah is engaged in a lively francophone community in the Niagara Region and enjoy spending time outside exploring the beautiful landscapes her area has to offer!

Valerie TsangValerie Tsang
Clinical Program Manager

Valerie is a Registered Psychotherapist who has worked for more than a decade in community mental health. She holds a Masters of Arts in Psychology from Médaille College and a Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Toronto. Valerie has extensive clinical experience working with individuals and groups on addressing diverse mental health concerns including complex trauma, suicidal ideation, concurrent disorders, and the impact of socioeconomic status on mental health. She is passionate about exploring the role of digital health technologies on reducing health disparities in the mental health sector. Outside of work, Valerie enjoys baking, working on her green thumb, and visiting local coffee shops.

Sydney TarrantSydney Tarrant
Care Coordinator

Sydney is a graduate from York University with an Honours Bachelor of Social Work degree, with 4 years of experience working with at-risk individuals (immigrants, mothers, the 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and individuals experiencing homelessness, addictions, and mental illness). Sydney models her practice philosophy around a client-centred, strength-based approach. Sydney’s dedication to social work stems from developing client relationships to bolster their strengths and lead them to achieve personal successes. In her spare time, Sydney can be found reading, at the gym, or catching up with friends.

What is this funding?

Who is this funding for?

This funding is focussed on supporting owners and employees of small and medium sized businesses that meet the eligible criteria: part of a small or medium sized business (between 1 and 500 employees) hard hit by the pandemic and facing barriers at work due to mental health challenges, have limited to no insurance benefits, not part of a government organization.

Who is CCRW?

CCRW is a non profit organization that focuses on supporting employers with accommodations around inclusion and hiring individuals with disabilities. They also help persons with disabilities find employment. CCRW is currently supporting Layla with our work around building inclusivity in our therapist matching process.

What is the cost of the services provided?

These services are completely free for eligible owners and employees. This funding covers the first 8 sessions with your matched therapist or the entire program of your preferred mental health group.

How long is the program?

This program covers 8 individual sessions with time being dependent on your availability to meet with your therapist. Group therapy will be 4-10 weeks depending on the program chosen.

Can I continue to see my therapist after I have finished the program?

Your mental health journey is yours and the period of time spent in therapy sessions is very individualized. This funding covers the first 8 sessions with your matched therapist and all sessions afterwards will be subjected to Layla's standard fee, $150 per 50 minute session.

How do I know if my mental health is creating challenges for me at work in order to be eligible?

Your mental health is an integral part of your overall well-being.  A few ways that your mental health could be impacting you at work indirectly include (but not limited to):

-Reduced focus/ability to concentrate

-Decline in productivity

-Increased absenteeism

-Increased worry/anxiety

-Decreased self-confidence

-Challenges with relationship management

If you are unsure, please talk to your care coordinator who will help you navigate the criteria for the program and guide you on your journey to getting support.
