Layla has partnered with Canadian Council on Rehabilitation and Work (CCRW) to offer funded mental health support solutions to owners and employees of small and medium sized businesses hard hit by the pandemic.

What is this funding?

The funding covers tailored options for mental health support for eligible individuals including individual (up to 8 sessions) and group therapy options best suited to your needs. Your Layla Care Coordinator will help you identify the right solutions for you and guide you on your mental health journey. All your information shared is strictly confidential and will not be shared with your employer.

This funding program has a defined budget. Client enrollment for funding will be open until the earliest of August 31, 2022 or when program budget is fully used.

Valerie TsangValerie Tsang
Clinical Program Manager

Valerie is a Registered Psychotherapist who has worked for more than a decade in community mental health. She holds a Masters of Arts in Psychology from Médaille College and a Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from University of Toronto. Valerie has extensive clinical experience working with individuals and groups on addressing diverse mental health concerns including complex trauma, suicidal ideation, concurrent disorders, and the impact of socioeconomic status on mental health. She is passionate about exploring the role of digital health technologies on reducing health disparities in the mental health sector. Outside of work, Valerie enjoys baking, working on her green thumb, and visiting local coffee shops.

Hannah BreierHannah Breier
Care Coordinator

Hannah has over 5 years of experience supporting youth, adults and families. Hannah completed a degree in Special Care Counselling from Lasalle College in Montreal finishing with a year long practicum in the Department with Youth with Difficulties. Hannah was able to participate in assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental delays as well as supported organized and lead psychoeducational groups with new families. Hannah has spent the last 3 years working in Calgary at a Crisis Stabilization program where she has supported youth and families through counselling. This included supporting youth through homelessness, family relationship breakdowns, addictions/recovery, big life changes and transitions. Through her work Hannah has identified a passion for client advocacy, person centred care and creating genuine connections with those she works with. On her off time Hannah enjoys being outside and exploring the beautiful outdoors Alberta has to offer, spending time with friends and of course a good Netflix marathon.

Amy RussellAmy Russell
Care Coordinator

Amy worked as a family support counselor for a community-based mental health organization for seven years in Calgary, AB. She helped clients build their confidence and competency in managing mental health concerns in various settings, including community psychiatric units, emergency rooms, and in clients’ homes. Her previous work with clients focused on strengthening their communication, relationship building, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and developing healthy coping skills. Amy holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Psychology from Dalhousie University. Her passion for the mental health field is driven by making emotional connections with others and supporting clients on their path toward healing and growth. Away from work, Amy enjoys biking, hiking, skiing, listening to podcasts, and reading.

Chantal SantosChantal Santos
Care Coordinator

Chantal has a diverse professional career with experience ranging from customer service, community-based work, clinical work, to mental health and more. As a graduate with honors of the Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy Assistant program, Chantal has gained comprehensive experience with chronic pain, neurological conditions, neurodivergent populations, mental health as well as MVA and WSIB clients. She has gained her experience through working in a hospital, clinical, and community setting. Chantal spent the majority of her life immersed in the arts; pursuing dance in her youth, and then teaching it to individuals with differing ages and abilities. Chantal was an Ambassador and Community Leader with the Toronto Argonauts, where she spent her time working and volunteering at various events and charities. She advocated for the anti-bullying and prevention program “Huddle Up”, as well as programs supporting the well-being of youth. Outside of work, Chantal loves to spend her time practicing yoga, listening to vinyl, reading and going for hikes.

Dorraine LightbodyDorraine Lightbody
Care Coordinator

Dorraine obtained her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from Burman University in Alberta. She has over five years of experience helping others with various mental health needs and disabilities. Her previous role was as Service Coordinator at Canadian Mental Health Association, where she helped adults with acquired brain injuries access services which allowed them to regain independence in self-identified areas of their lives. Dorraine realized she was passionate about mental health after sharing her therapy experience with family and friends, which then caused them to explore therapy on their own. She understands the importance of being client-centric so individuals can stay encouraged on their mental health journey. During her free time, Dorraine enjoys cooking, spending quality time with family and friends, and hiking the Rocky Mountains in Alberta.

Carol MairenaCarol Mairena
Care Coordinator

Carol is a registered Social Worker with over 4 years of working with individuals, families, youth and children in the Kitchener-Waterloo area. Carol completed her Undergraduate degree at the University of Waterloo and continued to pursue her Bachelor of Social Work Degree at Renison University College. Before Pursuing her Bachelor of Social Work Carol volunteered with at-risk youth and spent time completing humanitarian work in Guatemala which led to her interest in culturally sensitive mental health services. Carol has previously worked and volunteered with refugees, international students and Indigenous Individuals and is passionate about accessible mental health services for marginalized communities. In her downtime, Carol enjoys reading, watching movies, trying new recipes, singing karaoke and film photography.

What is this funding?

The funding offers tailored options for mental health support for eligible individuals including individual and group therapy options best suited to your needs and preferences. Our care team will help you navigate the right solutions for you and guide you on your mental health journey.

Who is this funding for?

This funding is focussed on supporting owners and employees of small and medium sized businesses that meet the eligible criteria: part of a small or medium sized business (between 1 and 500 employees) hard hit by the pandemic and facing barriers at work due to mental health challenges, have limited to no insurance benefits, not part of a government organization.

Who is CCRW?

CCRW is a non profit organization that focuses on supporting employers with accommodations around inclusion and hiring individuals with disabilities. They also help persons with disabilities find employment. CCRW is currently supporting Layla with our work around building inclusivity in our therapist matching process.

What is the cost of the services provided?

These services are completely free for eligible owners and employees. This funding covers the first 8 sessions with your matched therapist or the entire program of your preferred mental health group.

How long is the program?

This program covers 8 individual sessions with time being dependent on your availability to meet with your therapist. Group therapy will be 4-10 weeks depending on the program chosen.

Can I continue to see my therapist after I have finished the program?

Your mental health journey is yours and the period of time spent in therapy sessions is very individualized. This funding covers the first 8 sessions with your matched therapist and all sessions afterwards will be subjected to Layla's standard fee, $150 per 50 minute session.

How do I know if my mental health is creating challenges for me at work in order to be eligible?

Your mental health is an integral part of your overall well-being.  A few ways that your mental health could be impacting you at work indirectly include (but not limited to):

-Reduced focus/ability to concentrate

-Decline in productivity

-Increased absenteeism

-Increased worry/anxiety

-Decreased self-confidence

-Challenges with relationship management
