Frequently asked questions
Our therapists use a range of evidence-based approaches, tailored to each person’s needs. These may include cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based, trauma-focused, psychodynamic approaches, or eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). You don’t need to know how these work before starting, we’ll help explain and guide you to the approach that’s right for you.
Our therapists operate out of their own location, provide sessions in-person, online, or by phone.

At Layla we do not offer direct billing yet. If you are planning to use health benefits, our network of therapists includes Registered Social Workers (RSW), Registered Psychotherapists (RP) and Registered Psychologists (C.Psych), Registered Clinical Counsellor, and Registered Counselling Therapist (RCT) in select regions. When looking at your benefits package, we advise that you check to see if you are covered for either of those providers. Supervised Therapy Program (lower cost option): $35 per session (with Master’s-level student clinicians)
Psychological Assessments: $1,550 for virtual assessments including a 90 min interview with Psychologist, Psychometric testing and Debrief Interview with a report. Learn more about our pricing here.
Yes, our providers are college regulated, licensed professionals. If your patient has extended health benefits, typically, they will cover part or the full cost of the care provided.
Yes, all of Layla’s partnered therapists (MSW, RP, Psychologist, RCT) should be covered under the NIHB program for eligible clients.To confirm eligibility, patients should contact their regional NIHB office:

Key Information on Payment and Coverage for Patients
Layla Care cannot process direct billing through the NIHB program. Patients are required to pay for their sessions upfront and submit receipts to NIHB for reimbursement.The first 2 hours of counseling are automatically approved by NIHB; however, prior approval is necessary for ongoing sessions.Layla’s rates for RSW, RP, and RCT sessions align with the maximum reimbursement rates set by the provincial fee guides. For services provided by Registered Psychologists, patients may incur costs above NIHB’s reimbursement limits.What services are eligible for reimbursement?Individual TherapyCouples Therapy (Group of 2)Group TherapyNote: Psychological assessments are not eligible for NIHB coverage.

Layla currently offers a Supervised Therapy Program. Clients can work with a therapist-in-training who is closely supervised by a Master's-level clinician. Sessions are $35 for 50 minutes, but availability is limited to the length of the therapist's training placement. Further information about this program can be found here.

Our services are not covered by OHIP/AHCIP/MSP/MSI, but most extended health plans cover some of the professional designations registered to conduct therapy. Each plan is unique. If you’re planning on using your extended health benefits, we highly recommend you check your coverage in advance of the call so that we can connect you to the right provider.
