Understanding grief
Grief can come following the loss of many different things, whether that is a loved one, a relationship, an expected path, or from something in the past.
The emotions that come with grief can show up in many different ways such as anger, numbness, guilt, a racing heart, among many others. Maybe you’re finding it hard to focus, difficult to sleep, or find yourself irritable or disinterested.
There is no right way to grieve, and no fixed timeline for when your grief should be gone. It’s also common for people to seek support while working through it.

Frequently asked questions
There's no single best therapy for grief. For most people, supportive grief counselling provides what they need in that moment. Counselling offers a space to talk with someone who listens and can provide resources and tools to guide you through this time. If grief stays overwhelming or starts affecting daily life, structured approaches like grief-focused CBT can help.
Layla’s therapist community includes registered therapists with training and lived experiences in many types of grief and loss, whether that’s the death of a loved one, a change in your relationship, losing a job, a pet, or learning about a new health diagnosis. When you share your concerns during your matching call with the care coordinator, they will help to find a therapist suited to your needs and preferences.
