More about this program

As part of the Living Well with Diabetes group, registered participants will work in a group format with a dedicated therapist to build self-management skills to better cope with the mental health impacts of Diabetes and foster hope for the future.

Throughout the 4-week program, participants will join weekly online sessions to work on a variety of skills and techniques in a safe and supportive environment. Participants will learn skills from evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for increasing the understanding of thoughts and feelings as well as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) for emotional regulation, increasing acceptance of life’s challenges and improving relationships.

Topics to be covered include: the symptom cycle of chronic illness, the impact of Diabetes on mental health, processing the loss of “normalcy” and establishing a “new normal”, as well as improving coping skills, problem solving and emotional regulation.
